According to the great psychologist Erik Erickson
, who propounded the psycho-social theories of development believes that personality develops in series of stages. His theory describes the impact of social experience across the whole life span
There are 8 major stages in this theory; the first 5 stages of which are before the age of 18 while the remaining 3 spreads across age 19 till death.
For this year, we found the inspiration for our 2013/2014 collection themed “ITELE” BY MAXIVIVE from the last two stages of psycho-social development which are:
The former which explains how we tend to settle down within a relationship, begin our families, develop a sense of being part of a bigger picture and also giving back to the society through our productivity, community activities and children. Failure to achieve these objectives we stagnate.
On the other hand, ego integrity vs. despair, explains how we tend to slow down our productivity and explore life as a retired person. it’s during this time that we contemplate our accomplishment and develop our integrity if we see ourselves living a successful life, the reverse which is despair. In a lay-man’s language debrief of the relationship between psychology and fashion in this collection is the revolution of a man’s career all around the world returning to his homeland after gaining his “ego integrity” with enough ideas, fabrics, techniques, and experience all put together in a well thought-out manner to produce each exclusive piece in the collection and giving it a royal finishing.
“ITELE” by maxivive is a double-capsule collection which consists of earthy colours and a pop-of-colour symbolizing “royalty”. The capsules which are named “ITELE OBA” (king’s shoe) and ITELE IJOYE (chiefs shoes).
I am totally excited, I cant wait to see what’s going to be unveiled.
Funny I have had this Silk print shirt for almost a year, got it during one of my thrifting ventures but somehow just never found the right jean or skirt to wear with it to get that fit I sought. I had almost given up on it when these colorful denim pant came into my life. I got them to pair with my pink jacket but unfortunately both pinks were off. Does this happen to you? I got that pink pant convinced it would work with the blazer, tried both at night in semi darkness, thanks to Nepa or Phcn (my Nigerian readers understand me perfectly here), only to try both out the next morning and realized the colors were off, as in you cannot manage it totally off. Panic mode activated. When stuff like this happens to me, I tend to panic, reason been that I am almost always running late with preparation for work, every second is crucial so any minor setback such as say a stain on the dress or colors not co-ordinating as was the case this day means I am definitely going to be late to work.In panic, I attacked my wardrobe, pulling out different clothes to try out, the ones that seemed like they could work were rumpled, no power to iron them. I was still in my frenzy state, sighing and cursing when the silk shirt fell out. I stared at it in epiphany, picked it up, matched it with the pink pant I still had on and smiled. This would work, I just knew it! I wore them and voila, end product. What do you think?

I am currently lusting these things. I feel like my wardrobe is currently incomplete without these items. I have worn my one denim shirt to death and though I love the faded color it has now acquired, I know that it sorely does need an assistant.
I crave this white blazer from Zara. I am convinced all of my outfit is incomplete without it. I am totally convinced this is the ultimate blazer all my dresses, skirts, shorts and pants need to achieve that total chic look. Sigh!
